This project has a A rating & 0 carbon ofest for 70+ years. The walls are to be a mixture of brick, flint and two types of limestone. The roof is to be pegtile. The architectural composition derives from an inter-related set of classic proportions related to musical harmonies. The exterior was carried out with natural stone dressings and special, thin render. The flintwork at ground floor level was extensively repaired. Internally, a new library was fitted, complete with a set of Corinthian pilasters. Hintlesham Priory is Grade II listed. The project involved the demolition of an existing lean-to, the construction of a new three storey extension of red brick with hand–made plain tile roof containing the Rear Hall, Garden Room and a new staircase on the ground floor, a second staircase, landing, shower room and bedroom on the first floor and new landing and bathroom on the second floor 20 5.2.09 18 5.2.09 17 5.2.09 20 5.2.09 1/5 HINTLESHAM PRIORY- Alterations, refurbishment, extensions & landscaping Hintlesham Priory is Grade II listed. A new single storey Boots room extension links the playroom and house. An existing single storey extension was fully refurbished for the Laundry, WC and corridor. The existing attic space was strengthened, insulated and refurbished to create two bedrooms and a large landing. Landscaping work included new stone paved terraces and steps. The conservation work involved the replacement and strengthening of the oak frame, the reinstatement of a mullion window incorporating new leaded light glazing, and complete redecoration with lime paint. The new dining room is of seasoned oak construction with natural slate and hand made clay plain tile roofs, hand made brick plinth, natural hydraulic lime rendering, specially made leaded lights and decorative ironmongery to match the existing house. A jettied gallery allows the new rooflights to light the existing hall and staircase. The work received a Suffolk Association of Architects Craftsmanship Award.
