WOOD FARM-
Alterations & extension
This Grade II Listed mid-16th century, timber frame farmhouse was extended to be in keeping with and enhance the existing house which was conserved under a second phase. The green oak framed extension, over a deep moat to the rear, was built off a hand-made brick plinth with hair reinforced lime external render finish, leaded light windows with oak sub-frames and a hand-made clay tile roof. The original roof, previously tiled with concrete tiles, was thatched.
We were also commissioned to design a new barn adjacent to the house. It was constructed of green oak on a brick plinth with a black pantiled roof and black weatherboarding. It is attached to converted outbuildings and is used in conjunction with a new swimming pool.
This project won both the Home and Conservation RIBA East Spirit of Ingenuity Awards 2004.
