SHORT HOO

The house has been altered, refurbished and extended to combine two existing properties.  The extensions include a two storey link to the existing annex with a mansard roof, a new porch with swept lead roof and acorn finial, new sun room to the east and a new drawing room with a large bay window to the west.  Hard landscaping to create formal beds and terraces completed the work.

One part of the extensive alteration and extension work was a new drawing room with an exposed roof structure and concealed lighting.  A fireplace built of natural Portland stone was commissioned for the room.  The diaper pattern brickwork of the external walls and the special crested ridge tiles were designed to match the existing house.

This project was shortlisted for the RIBA Spirit of Ingenuity Awards 2004.
