Swimming Pools and Pool Houses Drawings, Paintings and Artworks Conservation |
CONSERVATION Conservation of historic buildings from the foundations to the decorative finishes are an important aspect of our work. Historical research, consultation with specialists, negotiations with English Heritage, the local authorities and amenity societies are services we provide in addition to the architects' basic duties. This remarkable plaster ceiling was made circa 1600. Angels, fruit, flowers and animals' faces are formed in deep relief, the legs of the angels in bas relief. The entire ceiling was repaired and strengthened and the supporting structure above strengthened as part of conservation work to an important Suffolk house. A derelict barn at Dairy House Farm was restored and incorporated into a new pool courtyard. The work received a Heritage Award Commendation in the RIBA East Spirit of Ingenuity Awards 2005. Our work at Wood Farm received an RIBA East Spirit of Ingenuity Heritage Award for conservation work in 2004. The work included the reinstatement of its thatched roof, replacement of inappropriate modern windows, new lime render and pargetting, rebuilding the chimney stack and a new single chimney. |
