ABOUT US The practice was originally established in 1962. Rodney Black joined in 1989 having graduated with Honours at Auckland University, New Zealand and having worked in New Zealand, the United States of America and Italy and with leading practices of traditional architecture, including El Wakil Associates in London and Erith and Terry in Dedham. He became a partner in 1990 and principal in 1999. The partnership became a limited company in 1996 in order to carry out specialist reconstruction work in Japan following the Kobe earthquake and the name of the practice became Rodney Black Design Studios Limited in 2006. The work of the practice has been published many times, including a feature article in Country Life and as the featured architects in the Home UK reference book by Helen Kirwan Taylor. It has also won numerous RIBA Spirit of Ingenuity, Suffolk Association of Architects and Georgian Group Awards and Commendations. Our aim is to provide our clients with the best possible finished product based on the brief and budget. Our approach is to prepare highly detailed working drawings, many to full size, to enable the contractor to follow accurately our designs. Discussions with our clients on the development of the scheme are undertaken at every stage. We are an ISO 9001:2000 registered company which means our procedures are monitored. The process helps us to maintain an efficient office environment. The practice is an RIBA Chartered Practice. Chartered practices undertake to adhere to a set of professional requirements in addition to those of individual members. The practice is a Limited Company, Registered in England No. 3161218, Registered address Gun Hill House, Dedham and registered for VAT. |
